The City of Cape Town has announced a proposal to redevelop the Strand Street Quarry, located between the historic Bo-Kaap and De Waterkant neighbourhoods.
The vision for the site is a vibrant, multi-use precinct incorporating sport, culture, tourism, economic activity, and municipal services.
The City has now submitted applications in terms of the Municipal Planning By-Law, and these were advertised for public comment from Thursday, 17 April 2025. The deadline for public submissions is Friday, 30 May 2025.
As a courtesy to our members and residents, the DWCA is sharing this update on behalf of the City. This communication is in addition to the formal statutory process.
